  • Wrong
No one should be this happy. It's just wrong. Especially when there are so many people in the world who are not happy--people with ample reason to be unhappy. Okay, it would be fair to say that everyone has ample reason to be unhappy. Life does, after all, suck like a vacuum. It gives us so many good reasons to be unhappy. Sickness, death, loss, broken dreams and varied horrors plague us, strike when least expected and generally annoy us. Some bastard has said that people are as happy as they want to be. Happy people believe that while unhappy people find fault with it. When I was unhappy I was highly irritated by happy people. Now I am the grain of sand that causes the oyster great pain. It's just wrong.

  • I'm happy that you're happy.
    Right or wrong.

  • Happy is a good thing. I struggle to be happy and I end up just barely finding contentment. I used to be a lot happier and had a great sense of humor....I am trying to get back there again....but it all is with me and what I choose to let bother me....sigh...lessons...Now I am off to go to they gym because I feel like walking till I can't walk any more....at least there I won't get too far from where I exist.

  • Grains of sand unite! hahahaha
I enjoy life way too much... I enjoy irritating people with my optomism. Of course we're all gonna die. We're all going to have bad days and tragedies - but today's not my day for that (until further notice at least) so I'm damn happy!

  • OH man, its never wrong to be happy. Its a blessing to feel happy. Yay! I believe its the unhappy days that make us appreciate the good days and to allow ourselves to feel happiness.

My mom just died, my best friends husband just died and I have allowed myself to feel happy on occasion. Yay! I treasure those days.
But then again, I have a sick sense of humor, so life is funny and amusing to me. I find happiness even in a death. *shrugs* maybe Im just nuts.

  • Sometimes I'm the grain of sand...sometimes I'm the oyster!  I think life is an ebb and flow of both...if we didn't feel both, the happy times wouldn't feel quite so fulfilling...plus, if we'd never known happiness, we'd have nothing to look forward to during the hard times.

  • for me, i'm all "YAY SOME JAMES GRIT I CAN MAKE A PEARL!"

i think it's possible that happiness is easier if you started out with low expectations.

  • But...those nasty grains of sand are the only way oysters make pearls...and who doesn't love pearls? Be happy, anyone it irritates probably needed it.

  • @Smarticus -

I don't know if I started out with low expectations but I did finally learn to adjust them so they pass more easily.

  • I support happy. Unhappy has it's place.

  • @queenie -

    Yeah, somewhere else. *smile*

  • I'm glad you're happy. Sometimes we get so used to stress and discontent that we feel badly when we hit a happy period. At least that's how I have felt the past two years...amazing to be in a two-year stretch of happiness. Though, for me, it's a happy that's beyond circumstances. I still have stresses and daily trials, but the happiness pemeates it all and gives me strength. But when this particular happy was new, I almost felt like I needed to apologize for it!

I love that profile picture. Sweet dog and man.

  • @BigToePeople -

Cool. I'm happy for you, really. The dog picture in your profile caught my eye too. Dogs are here to teach us how to love one another. I don't really feel like I need to apologize for being happy but it makes a good hook. *smile*

  • It did make a good hook! Drew me right in. And the message set it straight.

Must agree with you about dogs. My main "love language" is physical touch, and I am so comforted when my dogs want to sit up against me or sleep in the nook of my legs. My older dog teaches me to approach others with an open heart. When I first got her, I was teaching Middle School. She taught me how to love the kids with attention issues. So many lessons I could list.

  • i think i mentioned that a close friend of mine just died from cancer, her partner and i were talking over lunch last week and she said how happy she was. of course there is grief, but she says that going through all of this has changed her and for the good. she knows her partner, now gone, is happy and not suffering and she takes comfort in that and marvels at how everything is being taken care of like a perfect system. she was always, btw, a very upbeat person and now this event has transformed her into someone even more amazing and inspirational.

a sidenote: now i have "Don't Worry, Be Happy" stuck in my head!

  • @BigToePeople -

Hey, you're pretty cool. I like you. Wanna be friends? *smile*

  • @Southland -

Not a bad thing to have stuck in your head, Molly. She sounds like a really great person to know. I'm glad she's in your life.

  • I can remember many years ago when a new acquaintance saw me a bit down. He said he was glad to see I had other emotions besides happy. I never realized I presented as miss always happy. I knew I had my moods. (today has been one in fact)

  • Suck like a vacuum. If I had a nickel every time I heard that phrase....just kidding :P
